What's in a Name?

As some of you may know, there is another MARK BERUBE roaming around the universe creating all sorts of havoc and confusion when people show up at his gigs and expect to hear goofy, snarky, unceasingly clever tunes and they get >gasp!< sincerity. And vice versa, when our guy shows up. This is unacceptable. However, violence has not been deemed a proper response to the ever-growing crisis. Particularly not when the violence is aimed at our Mark when he plays the snarky stuff for the nice people.

In a perhaps vain attempt to lessen the degree of confusion, Mark (our Mark, that is) henceforth shall be referring to himself by his full given name, DECLAN PATRICK MacMANUS. Wait, no. That's not it. It's MARK ALLEN BERUBE! You know, like John Cougar Mellencamp or Sharon Edry Goldman, except he'll still be filed under "B" no matter what else happens.

Fear not for your girlish figure, good people. Mark's name will have more letters but the tunes will still be high in protein, low in fat. Plus ca change...

MARK (ALLEN) BERUBE was profiled in the September 2005 issue of NYC's excellent newsletter Acoustic Live in NYC (and Beyond). Mark was interviewed by editor Richard Cuccaro for September's feature article, which is still available for viewing in the Feature Archives section. Look for a rehashing of Mark's rags-to-riches life story, complete with tales of illegal alien abduction and Mark's brief stint as a candy striper, as well as some pretentious deconstruction of his silly little pop tunes. Or not.

Other Projects

As the savviest among you already know, CAROLANN SOLEBELLO has teamed up with friends and fellow chanteuses Laurie MacAllister and Abbie Gardner to form RED MOLLY. These ladies have been charming audiences with fresh interpretations of traditional folk, bluegrass and country tunes. The harmonies, as one might expect, are stunning.
