Sharon Goldman

With a sweet, soaring voice, catchy hooks and thoughtful, emotionally-charged lyrics, singer/songwriter Sharon Goldman (formerly known as Sharon Edry) has only just begun to make her mark on the New York City music scene. Her sophisticated brand of acoustic pop is steadily garnering a following of listeners eager for the lyrical substance and strong musicianship they miss on commerical radio. In the spirit of songwriters like Natalie Merchant and Lucy Kaplansky, Sharon is most comfortable in that fruitful territory where folk and pop intertwine.

Sharon grew up as a suburban kid in love with ballet, books and Billy Joel. Today, she pours her passion into songwriting, yielding intelligent, melodic and bittersweet songs of love, rejection, identity and independence in the city she loves best.

A Long Island native, long-time Manhattanite, and current Brooklyn resident, Goldman has performed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. during the past five years. She is a proud member of the Manhattan Songwriters Circle and the SummerSongs community. She appears regularly, both solo and with her band, at New York City venues including The Cutting Room, The Bitter End, CB's Gallery, and The Parkside Lounge.

Sharon has released two CDs on Elizabeth Records: Semi Broken Heart (as Sharon Edry) and Shake the Stars.
